Nebraska Prairie Museum will be celebrating Memorial Day all week. Please see their post below for details on the upcoming Memorial Day events. #MemorialDay #America #Nebraska #ProudMember ... See moreSee less

Is Memorial Day May 25th or May 31st? One's the federal memorial day, the other is the REAL Memorial Day. Memorial Day is an important occasion at the Nebraska Prairie Museum in Holdrege, NE., so we're going to honor our soldiers, sailors, airmen and women all week. The Nebraska Prairie Museum has a display honoring the General from Holdrege, Major General Harry Schmidt, who was the commander of the Marine Division that took Iwo Jima in WWII. We also have a video interview of Lt. Colonel Clarence Christensen, Jr., telling of his experience as a WWII B-24 bomber pilot, and later experiences flying the P-51, F-86, C-47, C-54, F-84, and the F-4 Phantom fighter. We also have models of WWII airplanes by Harold "Sandy" Sandell, and the wonderful Viet Nam soldiers memorial by Ted Dossett and Jim Sutton, remembering the Phelps County soldiers who died in the Viet Nam war. Memorial Day should be celebrated year-round, but the Nebraska Prairie Museum is remembering our men and women who died for our country all week this week.
