This month, in honor of Veteran’s Day, we’re excited to highlight GROW Nebraska member Veteran Roofing!
Originally founded in 2014 as Veterans 4 Veterans Construction, and rebranded as Veteran Roofing in 2021, this company has spent the last seven years providing high-quality roofing and construction services to customers in central Nebraska.
But, as one of their commercials proudly tells us, “It’s more than just a roof.”
Founder John Larson comes from a family of extensive community and military service. Having served for 10 years in the Army Reserves — including a combat deployment to the 1991 Gulf War with his Military Police unit — John wanted his company to focus heavily on financially supporting veteran nonprofits and charities. The concept, “veterans serving veterans,” has been the driving mission of the company since its inception.
“The biggest thing is the mission,” said Larson. “Using our company profits to donate to veteran causes and charities. That’s the focus; that’s been the mission since 2014.”
Larson, who has over 15 years of experience as an insurance adjuster for storm-related damage to people’s homes, found his inspiration from traveling to storm-damaged areas for work. After seeing how much money went into the local economy and construction companies during disaster recovery efforts, he began to dream about the positive effect those funds could have on the veteran community, if even just 1% of it could be put toward charities or nonprofits. Currently, Veteran Roofing & Construction has a goal of donating 10% of its net profits annually to these organizations.
In 2021, John attended the GROW Nebraska Marketech Conference, where he, after discussions with other attendees, realized that it might be a good idea to rebrand his company. GROW Nebraska helped John come to the decision that it would be more beneficial to rebrand and change the name to something more specific to the type of work the company does.
With a focus on roofing and siding, Veterans 4 Veterans Construction was rebranded to Veteran Roofing.
We’re proud to have Veteran Roofing as part of GROW Nebraska, and continue to be in awe of the company’s dedication to their mission and service to the community. We want to send out a big thank you! to John and the rest of Veteran Roofing — we can’t wait to see what a difference you’ll make!
